I wish...

I wish that we could somehow turn back time and go back to 2005 when poker was fresh, fun, and so different from any other hobby I'd ever tried.

I wish that full-ring limit hold'em was the latest and greatest game.

I wish that online casinos still offered ridiculously sweet bonuses that could be easily cleared at the blackjack tables.

I wish that Party Poker still offered frequent 5x bonuses that could be cleared in one afternoon of $0.50/$1 full ring limit hold'em.

I wish that I'd branched out into other forms of poker years ago.

I wish I knew how to play Omaha/8, Stud/8, Triple Draw, and Razz better than the average donkey.

I wish that I could still become a great poker player and makes lots of money.

I wish that I could learn another form of poker without first checking the online forums to double-check the expected win rates for each game.

I wish that I could read about no-limit hold'em cash games without being repeatedly told that the games are too tough to beat.

I wish that the United States could drop the UIGEA and let more players in the pool.

I wish that the fish would stop playing no-limit hold'em and move back to playing games that let them hang around a little longer.

I wish that I had more time every day to better my balance family time, poker time, and video game time.

I wish that I could regain the drive and focus I had towards poker back in 2005.

I wish that bad players would seek me out and give me their money.

I wish that more people read this blog.

I wish that other players would stop watching poker training videos and learn poker the old-fashioned way (i.e. losing money).

I wish that the prick sitting to my left would stop three-betting me every time I open.

I wish that the guy to my right would stop opening every damned pot with a 4x raise.

I wish that I had the balls to fire two or more barrels at a pot.

I wish that I had the patience to stop firing two or more barrels at a pot when it's clear that I'm on tilt or up against a calling station.

I wish that I could start a session with a couple quick double-ups.

I wish that I wasn't too tired to play my "A" game.

I wish that I had an "A" game that was better than most players' "B" games.

I wish that I could finally have that epiphany that opens up my eyes to the true secrets of poker thus allowing me to make a monster run to the mid-to-high stakes games.

I wish that I was good enough to earn a living playing poker at no risk to family's well-being.

I wish that I had a clear vision of the long-term in poker.

I wish that I was immune to the effects of variance on my psychological well-being.

I wish that I could supplement my income in a substantial way by writing about poker, playing poker, playing video games, or any combination thereof.

I wish that I could write without making heavy use of semi-colons, commas, and the word "however"; however, I don't think that will happen any time soon.

I wish that my wife could fully appreciate just how good an influence she has been on my development as a poker player.

I wish that I could come to realize just how badly I've hindered my growth as a poker player due to poor mental preparation, excessively strict bankroll management practices, and a ridiculous aversion to risk of any kind.

I wish that I had more time to play poker tournaments.

I wish that I could find the drive to put in a solid amount of hands in various mixed games without worrying about money.

I wish that more people had rakeback.

I wish that even more people signed up for great rakeback deals via my RakeTheRake affiliate link.

I wish that Party Poker could reclaim their throne as best poker site ever by allowing U.S. players to sign up and offering 30% rakeback across the board to all of its players - new and existing.

I wish that I'd finally realize that I only sweat while playing poker when I'm losing and starting to tilt.

I wish that my hands didn't get so cold when I'm tearing up the tables online.

I wish that my kids would only cry out at night before I post my BB instead of waiting for my button.

I wish that I could finally post some entertaining poker videos for my readers without confirming that I'm a weak-tight fish who knows very little about poker.

I wish that I could forget that earning real money in poker takes a lot of hands, a lot of patience, and a lot of devotion to the game.

I wish that I was luckier at the tables despite the fact that my Poker EV graph shows that I'm one of the luckiest SOBs around.

I wish that I had a cool poker home office.

I wish that I played at stakes high enough to warrant having a cool poker home office.

I wish that I had a weekly poker game with friends.

I wish that I didn't know the value of money while, at the same time, my wife knew the value of money twice-over to make up for my short-comings in that regard.

I wish that a poker-related or video-game related opportunity could present itself in such a way that my life (and my family's life) would be irrevocably changed for the better.

I wish that I was a respected as a poker player or as a superhero - either would be pretty good.

I wish that I could really, really enjoy poker again.

I wish that everyone could really, really enjoy poker again.

And finally, I'd like to wish for another 50 wishes...

I wish that I had written this great post.

I wish that I didn't actually nod to every single one like I had actually written it!

I wish you good luck at the tables!
